Altman Plants Variegated Agave 'Orizaba' Uncommon & Unique Succulent in 3.5" Grower Pot

The strikingly symmetrical gray-blue rosette of an artichoke agave generously splashed with cream-colored streaks – that is the rare succulent plant gem known as Agave parryi var. truncata ‘Orizaba’. This variegated form boasts broad variegated streaks on the margins of the leaves, potentially on the undersides too, and more streakiness in the middle. Each leaf is lined with sharp red teeth and tipped with sharp red spines, giving the plant a highly ornamental look. While less “tough-looking” than a typical artichoke agave, owing to all the cheery creaminess, this highly covetable variegated version is still a legitimate landscape plant. We have Agave parryi var. truncata ‘Orizaba’ growing and thriving in the ground in Southern California in full sun 10 miles or so from the coast. It will also make a terrific container specimen on a patio or porch. The plant may produce pups as it ages. You will receive a full rooted Agave parryi var. truncata ‘Orizaba’ in a 3.5” pot. Having been grown in the controlled comfort and safety of a greenhouse, your plant may initially appear more green than blue, though with distinct variegation. Gradually acclimating the plant to direct light will lead to deeper colors overall, including the teeth and spines. Provide full to part sun and well-draining soil. Water weekly or so during the growing season. Little to none during winter. You can feed monthly with fertilizer diluted by half during the spring and summer.
