Rust-Oleum Door Paint dries quickly and is designed to use one coat so you can mount or close your door quickly. Apply to metal, fiberglass or wood to revitalize an old door or protect investment in a new door. Adheres to pre-primed doors.

Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Oil-based Door Paint is designed to provide excellent color retention, chip resistance, and protection on exterior and interior door surfaces. Door Paint is ideal for use on metal, wood, and fiberglass doors. Not for use of galvanized steel.

Highlights:

  • Size: 1 Qt
  • Color: Vermont Green
  • For indoor and outdoor use.
  • Semi-gloss finish.
  • Apply to metal, fiberglass, or wood doors.
  • Also adheres to pre-primed doors.
  • Dries quickly and is designed to use one coat so you can mount or close your door quickly.

Application:

Before using, stir thoroughly to ensure any settled pigment is re-dispersed. If necessary, thin the material with xylene. Thin no more than 5% by volume. Use a 6½” shed-resistant roller with a 3/8” nap or a high quality brush with flagged (split) ends. For optimal results, use the roller to paint the entire door or paint the recessed edges of raised panels and then use the roller for the remaining flat surfaces.

One coat may be enough to fully cover both sides of the door. For new and existing doors, we recommend painting the door off the frame to allow the paint to dry completely before hanging. If painting a hanging door, do not close the door until the paint is fully dry to prevent it from sticking to the door frame.

Dry And Recoat Times:

Dry and recoat times are based on 70ºF (21°C) and 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to touch in 1-2 hours, dries to handle in 4-6 hours, and can be recoated within 1 hour or after 24 hours, and is fully dry in 24 hours.

Clean Up:

Clean brush and other tools with lacquer thinner or xylene.

Clogging:

One quart of Rust-Oleum Door Paint will cover 2 coats on each side of the door.
